Jessica Hudson First Solo Show at Art Of Toys

Jessica Hudson is a young incredible visionary new ceramic artist that is showing her first solo show at Art Of Toys this month. All of Jessica’s pieces have thought provoking messages behind the concept of the artwork. Look at “Am I Pretty Now” which is making a statement on trying to grow up before you are ready to. “The Barbie body is a representation of the want for adult things, but the baby doll head and the toy blocks are a way of saying that you are still stuck in a childlike mindset. The overdone make up is another way to show that while you may try to act an adult you are not quite there yet.”
All the pieces of this body of work are done in clay including the toy chest which is the size of a real toy chest, toys, blanket and even the marbles inside. Jessica has painstakingly created every line of wood grain in the chest. She has a gift for detail as well as artistic skill in her execution.
The most heard opening night comment was “these belong in a museum” which was based on the quality of work for all the pieces would easily add to anyone’s collection.  Wow here is a chance to start out with a up and coming star… encourage her to continue!
